The GHG Protocol is a globally recognized system for accounting greenhouse gas emissions, providing a uniform and transparent method for greenhouse gas emission accounting for enterprises and organizations worldwide. The Technical Working Groups will play a central role in developing the technical content of the standards and guidelines of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, revising and updating corporate greenhouse gas emission accounting standards to adapt to new scientific discoveries and market changes. Scope 3 emissions, as an important part of the overall carbon footprint of enterprises and supply chains, have always been a focus and challenge due to their complexity and diversity.
Leveraging his deep expertise and international influence in the field of carbon management, Yan Luhui stood out among over 1,300 experts and industry leaders globally, becoming one of the few Chinese representatives. He will join experts from renowned international institutions such as Apple, Microsoft, Google, CDP, SBTi, WWF, RMI, Ecoinvent, and Watershed to collectively ensure that the new standards of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol meet high standards in scientific accuracy, rationality, and operability, thereby more effectively supporting global climate action.
"The Technical Working Groups are the foundation of the standard update process," said Pankaj Bhatia, Director of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. "The Secretariat is very grateful to all those who have volunteered their time to participate in this historic update process—without their support, we would not be able to accomplish this challenging task. We look forward to working with the working groups to jointly develop the next generation of Greenhouse Gas Protocol corporate standards."
